For every female, the pregnancy is a phase that offers her completion. It offers a feeling of giving birth to a new life which is indeed indescribable. However, in the initial stage, one has to be sure about being pregnant which can be assured with the help of a few tests.

How does getting a pregnancy test work?

Finding out if you’re pregnant or not just got easy! All you have to do is take an over- the – counter pregnancy test…But the question is when??

Pregnancy test checks the urine with a hormone called as human chorionic gonadotropin  (HCG) which is only present in a woman’s body if she’s pregnant. These hormones are released only once the egg gets attached to the lining of the uterus.

What is the right time to take the pregnancy test?

According to the Cleveland Clinic, a woman must take the test as soon as she misses periods. Many women are curious to know if they’re in the game or not. In that case, she must wait for about a week or two after having sex. For successful detection of pregnancy, your body should have a detectable amount of HCG hormones which are developed only after around a week or two of successful implantation.

So, if you take a test before a week or two, there is a good probability that your test might miss it altogether. So, to get an accurate result of your pregnancy test, you must watch out for these signs:

Sore Breasts

Once you get pregnant, your body starts secreting hormones such as estrogen and progesterone in abundance. These hormones and increased flow of blood make your breasts appear fuller and bigger. From inside your body is preparing for the coming baby and can cause the nipples to hurt as well.

Cramps

When the egg sticks to your uterus, also referred to as implantation, can cause cramps which are very similar to the cramps you get before your period but the difference is that the period never shows up!

You feel different

You know your body the best and should be the first one to know if something goes differently.  Any nonregular physical symptom can be a call for pregnancy. These symptoms may include:

  • Nausea
  • Frequent urination
  • Food aversion, etc.

And lastly, the first symptom that you’re pregnant is if you have missed your period.

No period

This is usually the first sign if you’re pregnant or not, the Missing period is the first thing that acknowledges your pregnancy, but one can have it properly time lined so that the missing period is quite evitable.

Sometimes period is naturally delayed due to stress, diet and other physical and climatic conditions and can be just because of that and not the pregnancy.

Missing period due to pregnancy is usually accompanied by very mild bleeding also referred to as spotting. Spotting is usually caused at the beginning of pregnancy due to the implantation of the egg in the uterus. So, if you’re light bleeding there’s a good probability that you’re pregnant already, and it’s time to take the test.
